[swɔtʃ; Kurzwort aus Swiss Watch, »Schweizerische Armbanduhr«], 1981-83 entwickelte, vollautomatisch hergestellte, von einer Minibatterie (Knopfzelle) betriebene Designeruhr (»Kultuhr«) des Uhrenkonzerns SMH. Das (Kunststoff-)Spritzgussgehäuse ist Träger der mittels Ultraschallschweißens eingebrachten Module und des ebenfalls aufgeschweißten Glases. Die S. zeichnet sich durch geringe Masse (rd. 20 g) aus und ist bis etwa 30 m Tiefe wasserdicht. - Die Bezeichnung »Swatch« wird übertragen verwendet für klein gebaute, kompakte Fertighäuser und für »Mini«-Pkw (»Swatch-Autos«), die mit den notwendigen Funktionen versehen, aber ohne Luxus ausgestattet sind.
